Fundraiser aims to feed local children
Keeping Simcoe County kids from going hungry at school is the goal of a masquerade-themed charity gala being held at Tangle Creek Golf Course on April 2.
“Research shows that hungry or badly nourished students don’t learn as well as they could,” says Eat Well to Excel (EWTE) Simcoe North coordinator Nicole Hawke. “This event is intended to raise much-needed money to provide our volunteers with the appliances they need for breakfast, lunch or snack programs; and to provide additional resources to schools that have exhausted other funding.”
EWTE, a nutrition program for school-aged children financially administered by United Way Greater Simcoe County, that currently feeds 70,000 children each day across 185 schools with the help of more than 500 volunteers, 500 pounds of donated food, and multiple community partners and funders.
Doors open at the Behind the Mask masquerade at 5 p.m. on April 2, with dinner service beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $75 each and are available online at www.eatwelltoexcel.ca. For more information, call Hawke at 705-795-7127.
